The Gates of Hell by Andrew Lambert

From his opening line – The Franklin disaster had its origins in the Peruvian Andes – author Andrew Lambert leaves no doubt that he has made a 150 year old saga new again. Andrew will share his new interpretation with travelers aboard Quark’s Northwest Passage expedition in 2010.

In his prologue, Andrew acknowledges that a previous expedition aboard the polar-class icebreaker was one of the inspirations for the book that Gary Weir the Chief Historian, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency called “an insightful, provocative, and very stimulating work.”

We are honored to have Andrew return to Kapitan Khlebnikov for this End of an Era voyage. In addition to rewriting history, Andrew is Laughton Professor of Naval History at King’s College in the United Kingdom. He also wrote and presented the 2004 BBC television series War at Sea.

As there will be only 112 guests aboard the expedition in 2010. We encourage you to reserve your cabin quickly, and post a review of his book!
